Our Web Page Monitoring Service
4 Hourly Visit Interval. A list of web pages specified by yourself will be visited every 4 hours. Website availibility, permormance and changes to pages are checked.
What do we monitor. For each page visited we obtain the HTTP response code which will indicte if a page loaded successfully, or if there is a possible error. The response time and the page size is measured.
Independent Monitoring. Your webmaster and hosting company do not need to be involved.
Notifications You will be notified by email of: page load errors; slow response times (average for pages visited) and any change to a page size (HTML download). Changes to the page size are indications of a legitimate update made by your webmaster, or possible hacking.
Reports. A weekly summary will be emailed showing response times, page changes and page errors for that week.
Why monitor your web site?
Hackers. Hacking is a ongoing threat which needs to be detected, because it could be a criminal offence, result in financial loss and damage the reputation of the web site owner.
Programming Errors. A legitimate update to your web site could cause a web page to load incorrectly or not at all. A faulty web site also needs to be detected.
Network or Server Failure. Normally a network operator or web hosting company will rectify faults as soon as they occur. They may not necessarily inform you of the outage.
Traffic Overload. A surge in web traffic has an impact on the response time of a server. The daily average response time for your web site is an indicator of server and network loads.
SEO. Search engines monitor sites regularly. Sites that have web pages which are slow to load, or have errors might be removed from the search engine results or have the search engine ranking degraded.
